My research is in medical image computing: building tools that help clinicians reach better and faster diagnoses. Most of my current work, with Xavier Lladó and the ViCOROB neuroimaging team, uses deep learning on brain MRI and CT.
Current focus
Brain MRI and CT
Segmentation and quantification of brain structures and lesions with deep learning: white-matter lesions in multiple sclerosis, ischaemic stroke and large vessel occlusion, intracranial haemorrhage, brain tumours and brain age estimation.
Much of this work is done with hospitals and industry partners, including industrial PhDs.

Breast imaging
Computer-aided detection in mammography: breast density, mass detection and false positive reduction, microcalcifications, and diagnosis. This was the topic of my PhD and of a long line of work in the group.

Prostate
Prostate segmentation in MRI and transrectal ultrasound to support multimodal registration for biopsy and treatment planning.

Projects and technology transfer
I have taken part in 22 competitive research projects funded by the Spanish Ministry and the Government of Catalonia, most of them biomedical, working closely with clinical groups in hospitals in Girona and Barcelona. I also lead technology transfer projects with companies.
