Biography

I am a driven and motivated research scientist with 9 yearss international experience in medical imaging and medical physics, with special focused on breast imaging. I obtained my PhD at the Centre for Vision, Speech and Signal Processing (University of Surrey, UK), where I developed skills to study particle interactions using Monte Carlo simulations. Currently I am a Postoctoral Researcher at the Computer Vision and Robotics research institute (Universitat de Girona, Spain), where I investigate artificial intelligence algorithms to improve early breast cancer detection. I previously received the Marie Sklodowska-Curie postdoctoral individual fellowship to analyse scattered radiation in breast tomosyntheis (SCARtool). Also, as part of the EU FP7 ASSURE project, I have investigated image quality parameters in breast DCE-MRI and lesion segmentation algorithms for 3D automated breast ultrasound (ABUS). Currently I develop algorithms to improve breast cancer screening interpretation within the Spanish project SMARTER at UdG, and participate in the design of a prone biopsy table scanner using breast tomosynthesis technology (3D Bon T) and 3D organs printing algorithms (QuirofAM), as part of my part time position at the University Hospital Parc Taulí (Spain).
