The comparison of two views of the same breast is known as
ipsilateral comparison. Figure
shows CC and MLO views of the same breast. There are two main
strategies depending on when the segmentation is performed: after
or before establishing correspondence between both views. Sun et
al. [,] segmented both views independently and
subsequently compared the results. In contrast, Highnam et
al. [] proposed an alternative approach, consisting
of initially obtaining correspondence and subsequently segmenting
the images. Specifically, they proposed a simple breast
acquisition model where they draw a point in one view and map this
to a line in the other view. Local information is used to reduce
the line to a point, to obtain a point to point correspondence
between views.
