Comparison of Two Mammographic Views

The comparison of two views of the same breast is known as ipsilateral comparison. Figure [*] shows CC and MLO views of the same breast. There are two main strategies depending on when the segmentation is performed: after or before establishing correspondence between both views. Sun et al. [,] segmented both views independently and subsequently compared the results. In contrast, Highnam et al. [] proposed an alternative approach, consisting of initially obtaining correspondence and subsequently segmenting the images. Specifically, they proposed a simple breast acquisition model where they draw a point in one view and map this to a line in the other view. Local information is used to reduce the line to a point, to obtain a point to point correspondence between views.
